The Department of Design, through its programs in Graphic Design, Interior Design, and Digital Media Design, has established clear objectives in education, learning, scientific research, and community service. These objectives aim to create an educational system characterized by high quality and strong community engagement, while building an integrated framework that aligns with the higher education standards of the Sultanate of Oman, both nationally and internationally.
Additionally, the department focuses on developing curricula that promote the values and principles of Islam, reinforce the Omani identity, and address the needs of sustainable development and future skills. The introduction of these programs aligns with the objective of matching the offered majors to the demands of the labor market.

The Department of Design aims to achieve these goals through its academic programs. The study plans and educational offerings in these fields have been developed to align with the latest regional and global standards. Furthermore, qualified and specialized personnel have been recruited, and the necessary infrastructure, technical resources, and technological facilities have been provided to meet the educational needs of these specialized disciplines. This involves state-of-the-art classrooms, dedicated art workshops, and computer labs equipped with the latest specialized software for various design disciplines.

The education system in the Design Department is designed to foster an academic environment that empowers students, encourages scientific research, and promotes creativity and innovation, all of which contribute to the development of a knowledge-based economy. To meet current demands, the department offers a range of academic programs in design and digital design at the diploma, bachelor's, and master's levels. Additionally, it strengthens and solidifies the genuine partnership between the Design Department, academic and research institutions, and both government and private sector organizations, positioning them to compete on both local and global scales.

The achievement of academic program objectives for design specializations is given careful attention, as it plays a crucial role in implementing educational pathways. This involves preparing students to meet quality standards and develop the key attributes of graduates, particularly by equipping them with the essential skills and competencies required to enter the job market. Additionally, it fosters strong community partnerships with local institutions.

The implementation of design education pathways is a crucial step to keep up with the developments of the era, which requires achieving one of the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. This goal focuses on developing educational programs that align with the requirements of sustainable development, support diversity in educational pathways, and meet the needs of the labor market for qualified Omani professionals. Additionally, it addresses the interests of students, aligning with their abilities and preferences, which will contribute to their enrollment in these specializations.
